No problem to use the pictures on your website - it's interesting to see how other people are setting up their kiosks. As you might notice, I only accept 50p and £1 coins - I used to accept 20p coins, but the AK5 seemed to be getting them wrong too often. ie 50s as 20s and vice versa. Not sure how t...

Just thought I'd upload a few pictures of my setup at the moment, including the start page before money is put in, the customised version of Opera browser, and the desk and coin mechanism. The desk isn't really secure enough, it's just made of wood, and with a hammer or large screwdriver someone cou...

The way I got around this was to use old coins that are no longer in circulation. In many countries you can buy old coins very cheaply on ebay - and as they are no longer in circulation they aren't really worth anything. A word of cautiion though - I bought old UK pennies from long ago, and they are...

Personally I'd like to see the timer remain as it is. I am running an internet kiosk, with no other games or anything, all they can do is use the internet. I have the timer fixed in the top left corner, with the start button partially hidden - my customers don't need to use it. Personally we don't h...

running in test mode
HI, I was just wondering what the difference is between choosing "run test" and "run weavefuture kiosk timer" in the AK5 configuration menu. I prefer leaving it on the test setting, as then the timer is displayed all the time. I like this, as then the staff can use the shutdown p...

Windows key
Hi, I have all the security features enabled in the kiosk settings page - ie hide desktop, prevent ctrl-alt-del, hide taskbar etc. But if the system is on the desktop, although the taskbar and the desktop are hidden, if someone pushes the windows key on the keyboard, the start menu still comes up, a...

AK5 detecting wrong coin
Hi, I'm using UK coins, and I've just noticed that occasionally thr AK5 will register a 10p coin as a 50p. I've set it not to recognise 10p coins at all. All I allow customers to put in are 20p, 50p and £1. Sometimes, however, customers will put in a 10p, and usually it will be rejected, but sometim...

I use the AK5 and would recommend it. It gives complete control of what programs load when money is inserted. I'm just running an internet Kiosk, and no other appplications, and it works well for me. You can either use the included browser, or set something up yourself. I use the Opera browser, whic...

Shut Down
Hi, Would it be possible to have some option of shutting down the PC from the timer software - possibly up on the timer window. My PCs here are not accessible to the public or staff, and it would be good if the staff had some way of whutting down the PCs from software. I have the taskbar disabled of...

Thanks for your reply - I've worked out that it is possible to disable the warning in opera kiosk mode - it's the nosplash key. The real problem was that it was loading the previous session rather than the home page, which I wanted. I discovered that I can make the saved sessions file in the profile...

timer closing programs
I'm not sure what mechanism the timer software uses to close programs when the timer expires, but the program I'm using (opera) has a problem when it is closed by the kiosk software. It thinks that it has crashed, and starts up with a warning sceeen next time telling me that opera has terminated une...
